What Lesson Time Should You Choose?
I have been answering this question for many years. THE TRUTH - there is not a blanket answer as there are many factors for each individual. Available time, financials, age, purpose, etc. are all things to take into consideration.
This is how I typically break it down:
30-MIN LESSON: 15 min warm-up and conditioning, 15-minute song application, 1 song application, or two short audition cuts.
GOOD FOR: Beginners, Younger singers, Older singers, Hobbyists, Pro's and Pre-Pro's who need a quick tune-up, Any singer who can only budget this amount financially.
45-MIN LESSON: 20-25 minute warm-up and conditioning, 20-minute song application, Can get to more than one song.
GOOD FOR: Hobbyists, Pre and Pre-Pro singers, Auditioning Singers, College Auditions, Audition Prep, Those who want to make progress at a faster pace.
60-MIN LESSON: 25-30 min warm-up and conditioning, 30-minute song application, 2 or more song applications, or longer audition cuts.
GOOD FOR: Hobbyists (although I think 45 mins is best for this category), Pre and Pre-Pro singers, Auditioning Singers, College Auditions, Audition Prep, Those who want to make significant progress.
Here's the real deal though....WHATEVER time you choose for you is the RIGHT TIME. Consistency is really the thing that matters. Consistency with lessons and with practice.
